Participates in and is responsible for the implementation of the ministry policy regarding the issues under his responsibility in the various areas of psychology at the national level, and representing the psychology discipline at the ministry administration.
Determines the work principles and methods and supervises their implementation by the psychologists in all of the ministry units.
Cultivation and training of the human capital.
Control over the work of the psychologists under the Medical Administration, at general psychiatric hospitals, at the HMOs and at the units under the ministry’s supervision. Assurance of the quality of the psychiatric services provided to the public.
Policy formation regarding prevention and treatment (prevention of suicidal tendencies, treatment of child molestation victims etc.).
Responsibility for and supervision of the allocation of stipends.
Maintenance of the psychologist registry and the registration committee (issuance of licenses to graduates from Israeli and foreign schools)
Management of the psychologist regulations, granting of specialist certificates in the various specializations, trainer qualification certificates and certification of accredited specialization institutions.
Providing answers to the general public (in all matters related to psychology and psychologists).
