Any person / organization / business that wishes to import medicines, pharmaceutical agents or cosmetics/toiletries to Israel must obtain approval from the Ministry of Health.
The Import of Pharmaceuticals and Drugs Department is the department responsible for granting approvals and for setting standards for granting approvals.

The Importations staff deal with a range of import approvals, including:
- Granting approvals for the import of raw materials for the manufacture of medicines
- Granting approvals for the import of preparations intended for clinical trials
- Import/export of drugs and precursors
- Granting approvals for the import of preparations
- Granting approvals for the marketing in Israel of homeopathic products
- Granting import approvals under the provisions of Regulation 29
