The Division is a directorial division in the Medical Technology and Infrastructure Administration of the Ministry.
Objectives
Provision of detailed information regarding medical institutions, equipment and professional health care fields subject to licensing, registration or recognition by the Ministry of Health, meeting the needs of individuals and of the system.
The Division’s Activities
- A partner in setting policy regarding supervision and control of medical institutions and services prior to granting authorization to operate, a new license or renewal of an existing licensee.
- Assessment of the professional activity of pregnancy termination committees, in-vitro fertilization units, sperm banks, and the carrying out of amniocentesis.
- A partner in the drafting of laws, regulations and procedures in the fields of its responsibility, as well as the preparation of documents for courts of law and appearing in them.
Note
- In respect of licensing of medical or allied professions (receipt of licenses to practice medicine, optometry, physiotherapy and the like), apply to the Division of Medical Professions. In resect of nursing, apply to the Nursing Division, and in respect of the psychology profession, apply to the Psychology Array.
- The Division deals with special medical equipment under the provisions of the Public Health Regulations (special medical equipment such as MRI scanners, CT scanners and catheterization devices etc.) In respect of regular medical devices, apply to Medical Device Department.
The Medical Facilities & Special Equipment Licensing Division works in cooperation with the Legal Bureau, the Medical Administration, the General Medicine Department, the Geriatrics Department, the Mental Health Division, the Dental Health Division, the Department for Treatment of Addictions, district and sub-district physicians, the Scientific Council of the Israel Medical Association, the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Projects Committee.
