The core of the training for a registered nurse degree


The core curriculum for a registered nurse degree is a necessary criterion for registration in the Nurses Registry of the Ministry of Health. 
Institutions of registered nurses training may enrich the curriculum beyond the core required by the Nurses Registry.
The core program doesn't define the strategies and teaching methods. Those are set by the training institutions, according to their discretion and the updating technologies. 

The core curriculum is consisted of 126 academic credits, 100 of which are theoretical credits and 26 are clinical trial credits. 

The core curriculum has 4 learning divisions: 
  1. Basic Sciences Division
    Including: Sociology, Psychology, Chemistry / Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Virology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Epidemiology
  2. Nursing Sciences Division
    Including: ethics, law and justice, welfare, health and illness, theories in nursing, basic and paramount needs, health promotion, physical assessment, principles of clinical nursing, interpersonal communication, quality assurance, instruction
  3. Clinical Studies Division
    Including: nursing in internal problems, surgery (including surgery room experience), geriatrics, obstetrics and gynecology (including delivery room experience), child and adolescent, community, mental health and psychiatry, emergency situations and traumatology, first aid and emergency care
  4. Advanced Clinical Training Division, summarizing the nursing curriculum 
    Including: advanced clinical training (clinical experience).
    This division will be carried out only after the completion of the curriculum detailed in divisions 1, 2 and 3
