Environmental Health

Environmental health refers to the reciprocal relations between man and the environment, through concern for human health and quality of life while taking sanitation and environmental issues into account.

The Environmental Health Department within the public health service in the Ministry of Health assesses the sanitary, environmental, physical, chemical, biological, and socio-economic factors that may constitute a potential hazard and cause health damage to the current generation and of the future generations and takes action to remedy and prevent them.

The department determines the Ministry’s policy concerning issues of environmental health, initiates regulations, participates in regional planning activities and engages in ongoing sanitation supervision and in controlling various authorities.
