The quality of drinking water is regularly monitored by monitoring diverse microbial and chemical indicators as stipulated in the People’s Health Regulations (sanitary quality of drinking water), which are updated periodically. This measurement allows for a characterization of the water composites, to guarantee their sanitary and organoplastic quality and also to monitor trends, changes and detect acute problems related to the quality of the drinking water in order to protect public health.
When determining the quality of the water, the test results relate only to the tested sample and therefore the sample must best represent the water it was collected from. Sampling is the first and key step in water testing, correct sampling is crucial for obtaining correct results.
The drinking water sampling program is established by the water supplier, in coordination with the Ministry of health and with its approval. The scope and frequency of the tests is mandated in the regulations and depends on the type of water, its source and the number of consumers in the region.
The collection of the water sample for testing will be performed by a sampling technician qualified by the Ministry of Health. Sampling will be performed as per the guidelinest of the Ministry of Health.
