Prof. Benjamin Sredni is Chief Scientist of the Israeli Ministry of Health and the Head of the Safdie Cancer AIDS and Immunology Research Institute at Bar-Ilan University. A prominent immunologist, Prof. Sredni was the first to develop a method of inducing large numbers of lymphocytes from a single cell. These lymphocytes play a major role in the human immune system. This development heralded a new era in immunological research, paving the way for Professors Sredni and Michael Albeck to develop a new synthetic immunomodulator, AS101, which significantly stimulates immune functions, which is now in advanced clinical trials in patients with tumors and with neurodegenerative diseases.
Prof. Sredni has extensive collaboration research projects with various medical institutions in Israel and abroad, mainly with the National Institutes of Health in Maryland.
Originally from Mexico, Prof. Sredni graduated from Bar-llan University where he completed his M.Sc. Cum Laude
